Today was the first round of presentations for the Thursday class and I listened to seven very solid talks. The subject area was varied and I learned a great deal from all the students.
Today's subject areas were: ADHD, Addictions, Surgical Site Infections, Atrial Fibrillation, E Coli, Eating Disorders and Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS).
I was impressed with the work put into these talks and crucially, they were all structured sensibly.
As per the Tuesday session, I asked all presenters to reflect on their own performance which enabled me to pick up on some of the comments made.
I now ask that those taking part reflect on their performances in the comment section below and perhaps you could add what you learned from the experience today.
Well done to all learners and it was really nice to see Lisa S today to brighten up the day!

Having completed my presentation I find that I am growing in confidence. My presentation went well and although at the time I felt nervous, apparently it didn't show. Putting in the work and researching properly means that you can confidently stand in front of others and are not afraid of the questions that will be asked at the end.
ReplyDeleteGreat words Denise. Yes, preparation really is the key alongside a clear structure. Well done to you, you performed very well on the day.
DeleteSo glad to have gotten my presentation out of the way but to be honest it really wasn't that bad! I was so nervous in the days before I had to do it but then once i was there and standing infront of everyone I had forgotten that I was even that nervous in the first place, denfinatley agree with Denise on this one as long as you prepare yourself and do proper research for the subject you choose then you will be fine!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashleigh. It's definitely OK to be nervous and when you use them to your advantage it can be a very positive thing! Indeed, preparation, structure and personal belief are all factors which often contribute to presentation success, so thank you for your reflections and I hope you will take this positive experience onto future oral presentation deliveries. Well done.
